(Web-Quest Version of Self Advocacy Assignment)

Intro

Remember the Google Slides presentation we made in class?

Well, this time you get to be the teacher!

How? You are going to make a Google Slides presentation for your classmates and teachers
telling them what you think is important for them to know about Deaf people, hearing loss, and you

Because YOU are the expert on YOU!

Task

With this project, you get to teach your teachers and classmates about Deafness and hearing loss,
since you know much more about it than they do

You are going to do some research about Deaf culture, ASL, hearing loss, audiology, & technology
and you’ll have that chance to add your own experiences

Then you’ll make a Google Slides presentation to share with the class

Be ready to answer questions!

Process

Open this Brainstorm Google Doc you’re sharing with your teacher and brainstorm what things about
Deaf Culture, ASL, hearing loss, etc you would like to learn more about
and/or explain to your hearing teachers and classmates

Type in your answers (pick a fun color to write in). Feel free to ask questions, too

Open the Information Rough Draft Google Doc to see what you need to include in your presentation

Do a Google search for the information you’ll need to include

Fill out the Rough Draft Google Doc (again, use a fun color)

In each section:
Paste in the links for the images/videos you choose
Type in the text you want to include
Paste in the links for any site where you get information

Open this Checklist Google Doc and keep it open while you are working
Highlight each piece as you complete them

Open this Google Slides presentation (shared with your teacher)
Pick a template or choose some colors
Create your title slide
Create at least 6 info slides (refer to the open Checklist to make sure you have everything)
Create your references slide (and be sure to paste in your links)

Review your slideshow, and then message Ms. M to let her know you are done
